About
Hi!
Danobang is a fast-paced online multiplayer word game. We currently support Chinese, Japanese, and Korean as playable languages.
The rules are simple: Each turn players are given a random character prompt and must type a word that includes it in ANY position. If you fail to submit a word before the timer runs out you lose a life. Last person standing wins!
The site is still a work in progress, so please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any feedback!

FAQ
What the heck does "Danobang" mean?
Because Danobang originally started as a Korean-only word game before I began adding other languages, I used a Korean pun for the game's name: "Dano" roughly transliterates to "단어" which means "word" in Korean. "Bang" was intended to be onomatopoeia but also happens to mean "room" in Korean (방)!
Why didn't the game accept my word?
Every word you submit is checked against our dictionaries, so the most likely reason is that the word simply isn't in them yet. It's also possible that we mistakenly flagged the word as inappropriate since we currently don't accept slurs, hate-speech, or overly offensive content. As well, it's worth double-checking that your word actually includes the given prompt!
If there's a word that you think should be playable there's a few ways you can let us know:
- Flag the word in your match results in the "show incorrect answers view" (flags should appear next to incorrect answers which you can click)
- Reach out via the site's contact form
- Reach out via Discord
Note that final addition to the dictionary is up to admin discretion.
What's the difference between quickplay rooms and custom rooms?
Clicking the big green "play" button on the homepage sends you to a quickplay room. These are public, use default settings that can't be changed, and are meant to be played with strangers. A custom room lets you control settings like privacy, difficulty, timer length, and lives, and you can even play solo or against a CPU.
